Many patients find dental insurance confusing and frustrating to navigate due to the complicated jargon and varying coverage from plan-to-plan. If you’re finding yourself feeling the same way, we welcome you to give us a call so we can help get your concerns addressed. Our team will always try to help you maximize your benefits when we file claims on your behalf. Below, we’ve included some dental insurance basics to help you understand your plan better.
In order to understand the basics about dental insurance, it’s important to know these terms:
Dental insurance plans are primarily focused on prevention. This means that to save yourself from out-of-pocket costs, it’s best to keep up with your routine appointments to your dentist to keep issues from developing. The average insurance plan uses a 100-80-50 coverage structure. What this means is that they cover 100 percent of the cost of preventive care, like checkups and cleanings, 80 percent of basic services, like dental fillings, and 50 percent of the cost of more major procedures, like tooth extractions.
In the case that you do get a tooth infection or other issue that requires a major treatment, our team will work with you and file claims on your behalf to make sure that you pay as little out of pocket as possible.
At Metropolitan Endodontics, we’re proud to be an in-network provider with countless major plans. This means that we’ve negotiated discounted rates and fees for patients with the following plans, allowing us to pass savings on to you.
